Are Your Clean And Safe Water Worries Justified
So many times during our day at home we take the water that comes out of our faucets for granted. We expect it to either be hot or cold depending on the handle we use and we expect it to be clean. Well, it might still be coming out of the faucet and it might be hot or cold as usual, but it might not necessarily be as clean as what we believe it is. You might think that you have city or county water and of course it is clean because it is treated before it comes back into your home. Well, you might want to think again.
More and more all over the country people are finding out that the water supply that they pay each month to have pumped into their home is not nearly as clean and usable as we expect it to be. There are places in our country where people with wells on their property have found out that the cancer rates in their area have gone up or babies are being born with specific deformities and it has been traced back to a landfill somewhere in their vicinity.
These are real situations that are happening with ground water and with city water. Drugs and other toxic chemicals are being found in water that has already been treated and the question is why? The treatments that are used does not always remove all of the bad things that are in the water and when it gets to our home it can still be dirty enough that we should not drink it. You might wonder how can you know for sure what is in your tap water whether it is from a city facility or from a well. It must be tested. You can take a sample down to your county department and have it tested. You will probably have to pay for this yourself especially if you have a well.
Once you find out exactly what is in your water, it will be up to you as to what you do next. If you use city water and the test results are bad, you know you will have to contact an official somewhere. This might not be as easy as it sounds. You could meet with resistance or be ignored all together, but do not let that stop you. When you pay for a service like water from the city, you have a right to expect it to be clean enough for your family to use. If you have well water that is bad, you need to contact a well specialist to find out what filters or purifiers you can use to improve the quality of the water in your well before it comes into your home.
