With the economic meltdown affecting everyone around the globe and observing the panic by Governments and their half baked ideas on how to handle it if you don't realize now that you are your own security then you never will.

As we see the stockmarket crumbling and house prices falling and peoples life savings disappear and people stop spending in our crazy consumer driven economy which relies on debt then your security is threatened whether you are an employee working for the man or a franchisee working for a franchisor or a traditional business owner whether you are large medium or small. What that should be telling you is that your security is you and that you have to be in control.

By control I mean having a home based business with the opportunity of multiple streams of income, by this I mean do not become reliant on one stream of income an example of that is affiliate marketing where you are using the affiliate site supplied by the author either through Clickbank or Commission Junction etc. Affiliate marketing is a great way to get started because you do not have to develop the product and test its viability in the market. but by restricting yourself to one product means you will achieve the maximum results commensurate with the effort you put in and keep in mind Home Business Opportunity is not about working harder and longer it is about leveraging your time in the same way as your current boss or franchisor does with you now.

It is imperative that you set up your own website because then and only then can you get some recognition from the search engines where you can increase your sites exposure for little or no cost. Now when I heard this the first time I said yeah right but I have got no idea how to set up a website and to this day I am not much further advanced in that area as I realized I did not need to be as there were services available to do that for me.

One of the most important lessons you will learn in developing a successful home business opportunity is that you do not need to know it all, the most important part of a successful home based business is driving traffic to your site, that is it you don't have to be a HTML expert a prolific article writer or all the other aspects associated with making money online. To me that was the most heartening thing to know.

When you look at the myriad of home business opportunities out there keep that in my mind as there are some that address all the issues we will discuss and many many more that do not.

The other part of the control over your economic security is that you do not want to be geographically bound where you are at the mercy of the local economic conditions as is happening now in various cities around the world where the main generators of employment are slowing so then you get the trickledown effect to all other businesses. You market has to be global.

What is being shown to us time and time again is that there is only one way to achieve that and that is through the power of the internet but when you enter this realm the options and opportunities are wide and varied. So where do you start, which is best for you, how much time and money will it take and on and on.
